Jamestown Community College’s Cole Holland (Westfield / Westfield Academy) is continuing his academic and athletic careers at the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford.
“I chose it (Pitt-Bradford) because it is close to home, and it reminds me of home as a quiet town and the scenery in the mountains,” said Cole Holland.
Holland played a key position for the Jayhawks successful 2024 season as the center for a JCC that made a run to the Region 3 semifinals. In his two years as a Jayhawk, he learned skills that will help him on and off the pitch.
“I feel like it taught me that what you put in, you get out. It helped me keep my nose down and keep focus on what I wanted to do,” added Holland.
The physical education major appeared in 26 games for JCC, starting 14 as a sophomore. He believes he can take the skills learned on the field at JCC and quickly make an impact for the Panthers.
“I feel like I have an opportunity to get playing time there. I know I have a spot on the roster, and that was important to me,” said an excited Holland.
Holland is currently carrying a 3.1 GPA in Jamestown, a spot that is up from where he sat as a freshman. Learning the importance of hitting the books was another growing point for the Westfield native.
“Academically, it taught me to work hard and persevere through any struggles. I had some hard times in high school and early on here, too, but I learned to keep grinding,” he mentioned.
As far as his favorite memory as a Jayhawk, it was all about time with his teammates.
“Just spending time with the guys. The camaraderie, not even on the field, but random stuff like eating. Just being with my teammates,” he said.
Holland and the rest of the Pitt-Bradford Panthers open the 2025 season in September, where Cole wants to continue to grow with his new soccer family.
“I’m looking forward to making new connections. There I will be jump-starting my career as a teacher. I am excited to get a chance to student teach,” Holland said with a smile.
