Carson Swanson capped his Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 career with the league’s Player of the Year honor.

Swanson, a Westfield senior, became the all-time leading scorer in Section VI boys basketball history this season. He averaged 31.5 points, 8.1 assists, 6.7 rebounds and 6.4 steals per game for the Wolverines, who tied Panama for the division crown.

Westfield senior Zach Maguire joined Swanson on the league’s first team after averaging 15.0 points, 11.6 rebounds, 3.5 blocked shots, 2.3 assists and 1.5 steals per game for the Wolverines.

Panama senior Carter Brink was named to the first team after averaging 25.4 points, 4.1 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game for the co-league champion Panthers.

Brocton senior Michael Garcia earned a first-team nod after averaging 22.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.5 steals per game for the Bulldogs.

Chautauqua Lake junior Nick Jacobson was named to the first team after averaging 17.6 points, 5.0 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game for the Eagles.

The final member of the first team was Sherman junior Jacob Ferranto, who turned in 16.4 points, 11.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.0 steals and 2.0 blocked shots per night for the Wildcats.

Panama’s Ed Nelson was named the league’s Coach of the Year for splitting the league title. The Panthers eventually won the Section VI, Far West Regional and NYSPHSAA Class D championships.

The league’s second team was made up of Panama seniors Bryce Hinsdale and Alex Barmore, Brocton senior Jeremy Weisner, Chautauqua Lake senior Nate Henry, Clymer junior Carson White and Maple Grove junior Liam Colburn.

Maple Grove earned the Team Sportsmanship Award with senior Camden Lombardo the Red Dragons’ Individual Sportsmanship Award winner.
