MAYVILLE — Chautauqua Lake pitchers Devin Hewes and Nate Henry gave up just one hit as the Eagles downed Cattaraugus-Little Valley 13-3 in nonleague baseball action on Monday. Hewes struck out two batters in his two innings and Henry punched out four over the final three while walking two and giving up a hit.

Chautauqua Lake was led offensively by Hewes, who was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBIs. However, the game broke open with a suicide squeeze bunt from Greyson Wellman to score Connor Nowicki in a big four-run third inning, and five more were tacked on in the fourth. The Eagles received three runs from Nowicki and Cayden Blackman, while Wellman touched home four times.

Theron Crawford started the game on the mound for Cattaraugus-Little Valley, while Brice Corbin and Derek Pritchard entered in relief. The only hit for the Timberwolves came off the bat of Crawford.

Chautauqua Lake (1-1) is back in action at North Collins today, if the weather cooperates.

Then at the end of the week the team will play Dunkirk in Cooperstown.
